We were the structural engineers for two pedestrian bridges in Kopupaka Reserve, Whenuapai: the Sakaria and Pine Forest bridges. The timber structures stand on timber piles above the wetland, with steel bracing and curved balustrades that follow the deck edge. We monitored construction through to final inspection and issued the PS4 on completion.
A timber footbridge in Trentham Memorial Park, Upper Hutt. As structural engineers, we designed the 2.0 m wide deck to sit on H5 glulam bearers that span the full crossing without a central pile. The bridge has a 1.2 m high battened timber barrier and retained approaches with wingwalls. We monitored construction through to final inspection.
Structural design for Horotiu, a 7 m tall permanent public artwork on Victoria Street West, delivered for Auckland Council alongside the companion Wahine sculpture. We designed the internal stainless-steel armature and the reinforced concrete foundation, prepared the engineering for the building consent exemption, and are monitoring construction through fabrication and installation.
Structural design for the support system of a suspended public artwork beneath the Mayoral Drive bridge at Myers Park, delivered for Auckland Council. Our drawings set out the steel support framing and the drilled fixings into the existing concrete bridge beams, so the artwork, lighting and speakers could be hung safely from the structure above.
Seismic strengthening of an existing internal concrete blockwall in an industrial building in Mt Wellington. We designed new steel PFC vertical supports to restrain the wall, checked their connections to the masonry and to the existing steel portal frame, and inspected the installed work on site.
